Running MOTU 896HD on laptop

Hi there. I tried to get technical support from MOTU, but didn't have any response so I was hoping someone out there would know. I am very interested in running a laptop based recording setup with the MOTU interface, but I was wanting to know if I could run it with something like ProLogic 6 or similar that's very expandable. The rack has 8 mic preamps/ins and that is exactly what I am looking for. I am not interested in your suggestions for different laptop recording setups...I am well aware of them and everyone opinion on them...and I was just wondering if the 896HD would be compaitible with more recording software to control it.
Thanks

Yes. All motu interfaces will work with Logic or any other audio application besides pro tools.

How about external rack effects? Or...effect plugins...how abundant are they?
