Setting up a recording studio


Firstly I want to get a good 19 inch monitor


and then I need a pre amp for hooking my stuff up to the pc

I am on a budget of around 500 euros in total

any recommendations

The monitor should be an LCD; less noise that way. I like my Dell, but even the cheap Acer I just got for my mother in law is impressive.

There are many possibilities for front ends:
1) good analog PCI card like an Audiophile or Mia, with a decent small mixer or stereo pre
2) Firewire or USB2.0 interface, either stereo or multi-channel

How many channels do you need?

not sure about what channels means but I would like to use it for two guitars and a mic

usb interface is more of what i am after

I found a few acer lcds and i am checking their prices on the net to compare

I found a samsung tft monitor and ordered it

now I am looking at the Tascam CD-GT 1 MK II in which can be used as a preamp for pc recording

or other similar stuff preamp with guitar effects

anybody have any experience with this device
