studio speakers help!

I was mixing with only my headphones and it sounded different once I played it in another system! Do I get deferent headset? what kind of speaker set will sound as it actually is played? I see these studio speakers , but they look like a cheap 2-way speaker! Maybe they are what I need . But I dont want to spend to much! Help would be much appreciated!!!

Re: studio speakers help!

I remember once recording I mixed using my old headset, it was one of them over-bass set, so I mixed most of the bass frequencies out.
It ended up as a poor decision, because the whole recording was so fragile and mid/treble.

I will advise against using a 'regular' headphones for mixing. Always choose something with a rather natural EQ.
And yes, it will sound different once you use a different system because most speakers will boost/cut certain frequencies, that's why monitors are different than regular speakers.

I think proper recording monitors will give you more of a neutral sound that should sound good on a variety of systems.
