Question

The boss br-8

Im very new to recording with laptop. I have a br-8 (the one with outdated zip drive) and would like to know if I can use and how to use this as an interface to record with laptop (windows vista) if possible. I have downloaded goldwave and will this program help? What do I need to send signal from br-8 to computer? I have tried RCA (br-8 output) to mini mic jack on laptop and got nothing. Would MIDI (br-8 output) to laptop USB or mini mic jack work being that both signals are digital? Is the reason the RCA connection was not working was because of an anolog to digital conflict? looking for simple one overhead mic live music recording. Im trying to find out if I can get by with what I have before I buy an updated interface. Thanks!
