To anyone with Pro Tools Experience

I've recently been spending a bit more time recording myself along to backing tracks with a mind to be more critical of my technique, however it's got me interested in recording for its own sake.

Does anyone have any tips for getting my guitar part to sound less disjointed and blend in with the backing track better?

I realise it's difficult as you've got something which was recorded in a different studio by different players etc, but are there any tricks that anyone knows about?

The only thing I can recommend is to try EQing the guitar track to be less pronounced, and to bring the sound down a tad. It's not very good advice I know but it's all I can give sorry...

your best bet would be to EQ and adjust volume the best you can

yes ive heard of it but dont know much about it.wasnt sure weather it was free or not.

It might depend on its place in the "stereo spectrum"... try panning it more in the middle instead of hard right or left. Also, changing your mic placement to something less on the grillcloth and back a bit to catch more of the room resonance can soften some harsher frequencies without reaching for the eq and carving out the sound. Maybe something simple like D-verb/plate verb can shmutz the guitar part to the backing track without sounding like it was just stuck on there. Feed the guitar to an aux and add your plug on to that and keep the fader low so its not bathing in verb. good luck!
