voice recording on a laptop

does anybody have any tips for recording voice on a laptop? whatever i do it sounds really wooden and not part of the song. can anybody help me?

Get a firewire / usb mic preamp and a vocal mic.

WHat is your budget? How much you want to spend to get good vocals?
You can get good vocals with an Mbox from Digidesign and Pro Tools LE comes with it. Alls you need after that is a good condenser mic, and cable.
A Decent vocal mic can be bought for under a grand.
