2 really basic questions about wiring my 1077

Hi,

I'm wiring my 1077, and I have 2 probably stupid questions:

1. How do you figure which side of the pickup is up or down? (that is, which poles go to the lower or higher strings)
2. The bottom of the middle pickup cavity has a contact which has a cable soldered. This cable isn't on the wiring diagram on Ibanez.com. Does this cable go to ground?

Thanks!

1, Pickup goes wire down in most case's, So towards the control cavity

2, Single Coil shield/Earth, Goes to vol pot !

Another stupid Q:

The Ibanez diagram lists red and green as the color in the middle PU wires, while my pickup (a Blaze single) has black and white....black=green/white=red, or the other way?
