I just got my RG1570 back from the shop.

I now have the Tonezone in the bridge, Blue Velvet SC, and the Humb from Hell in the neck. WOW! The Tonezone is just amazing, as are the other pickups.

You can't go wrong with the Tonezone. My wiring is also pretty cool. I'll see if I can explain it:

5 way selector works as normal:

1 - neck humbuck
2 - split neck humbuck + single coil
3 - single coil
4 - single coil + split bridge humbuck
5 - bridge humbuck

Now, I also have push pull pots on both tone and vol that do this:

1 - (with tone pot pulled) split neck humbuck (for SC strat sound)
1 - (with tone pot and vol pot pulled) split neck AND bridge pickups (cool for funk)
And the possibilities just go on from there.

Bascially the vol push pull activates the bridge humbucker regardless of 5 way switch selection. And the tone push pull splits both humbuckers (depending which one is active at the time, and both can be spilt at the same time). There are something like 21 possible settings with this setup. I am loving it!

I can make this thing sound like a Tele or a Strat and then switch right back to death metal humbucker, or fusion rock/shred just by playing with the push pulls and selector.

I also had the last four frets scalloped and the fretboard edges rounded as well. This thing is rockin'!

hahaha, nice, grind.

I'm not 100% sold on my Tone Zone in my 7620... It's a great sounding pickup, no questions about that, but there's this slight "sting-iness" to the highs. it's tough to describe, but there's this touch of shrillness to it, to my ears. I'm looking for something bright but with a little more rounded high end.

Which is weird, since that's exactly how a lot of people describe the TZ.

The TZ is (slowly) growing on me (in a 3120, mahogany, so its different...) i love it for rythm, but i cant quite pin down what it is that i dont like about soloing / screaming.... pinch harmonics do jump out of everywhere, tho

i dunno, i never had a mahogany guitar before, but still if i were to keep it, id probably change the TZ for something else...

I love the high end. Mine is pretty smooth sounding. Actually, you have to work to get it to sound harsh, but it doens't lack clarity at all. Mine is in an RG 570, and I feel like it probably works better in basswood, unless you're going for a super-fat, round tone, in which case, it would work well in mahogany, too.

evo in mahogany. Just kills.

Probably should have tried a blaze in the neck of my 2027 before selling it, in retrospect, considering how much i loved the evo in the bridge (blaze neck is supposed to be pretty similar to the evo 6 night, right?)

Oh well, i wans't using the peizo anyway.

D'oh! And that's the sound of Drew kicking himself in the buttocks
I'm telling ya Drew, all the 2027 needs is some bright-ish pickups, and it kills (although, I can't really imagine anything better than the Air Norton for the neck. The DiMarzio tone charts are slightly misleading, though... the AN7 has a rich, dark quality, but it has good top end, too. Real 'singing' I guess you'd say).
