Anyone else have problems with SD pickups lately?

A while ago, I placed a SD order for a set (n/b) of Invader 7-string pu's for one of my Universes. After getting everything wired up the tech installing them discovered that both pickups were "dead". I thought he was crazy, thinking that maybe it could happen to one pu, but not both. Especially when the pickups are brand new. So they went back and sure enough, they were defective. I got replacements and all was well. Awesome sounding pickups, they give me the sound I've always wanted, blah blah blah...
So a little bit after this episode, I replace the bridge pu in my UV777GR with another brand new Invader. Everything is cool for a few months, but one day as I'm playing my sound starts to fade almost like I'm playing with a bad cable. It fixes itself for a few days but finally completely dies. So I take it in to a tech last night and he checks it with a volt meter. Sure enough, he tells me the pickup had "died".
This happen to anyone else? And is this a normal thing to happen to a pickup? Or is it poor quality control on SD's part?

I haven't had any problems with my Duncans i bought last year.

Pickups are pretty simple devices. But given the fragility of the coils and the conditions they're played under most of the time, i'm amazed at how durable they can be.

The problems you've had with your Invaders may be an internal quality problem, or it could be as simple as Seymour Duncan getting a bad batch of wire from a supplier. If one of the tiny coil wires breaks, the pickup is junk. Since all the problems you've been having are specifically with the Invader model, my guess is that there's some kind of materials defect that is affecting a particular batch of them.

I've not had any problems technically with mine, but with orders. I ordered a white pickup, waited, got a black one, told them, waited .... got another black one ( at which point i didn't really care anymore, cause I just wanted a pickup).

no problems here with my SD pups. Bad luck I guess on your part. I've had similar problems with other stuff, but you can tell it was just dumb luck on my part(that is it wasn't the norm for the ocmpanies).
