anyone else love the virtual pafs?

I got a set of these to replace the air zone and air norton set and could not be happier,t
hese to me are the best, most natural sounding dimarzios to date
I bought the virtual hot paf for the bridge and for the neck spot i use the virtual paf bridge model for more warmth.
these are in a mahogany S2170 prestige

Re: anyone else love the virtual pafs?

What is the difference between Paf Pros and the Virtual versions?

I LOVE Pafs (like my RG20ths, RGT3020 and I have even put them in a few other axes in the neck position like my '91 777VBK, Jem Custom Mahogany and my IC-400 Iceman).

the paf pro is a regular paf with more presence, output and is a bit more modern toned overall.
the virtual paf stuff is like the gibson paf but uses modern technology in the design but sounds and plays like a 1957-59 real deal paf.
I also want to try the air classics next see i dont like a lot of output from the pickup,i use my amp for gain like EVH did all those years

Thanks for the info.

I have considered the PP's very transparent and clear with little to no coloration of the sound. I would be interested in hearing the VP's and the Air Classics as well.

I really like the Virtual PAFs and Hot PAFs that Dimarzio do... I think they are great pickup... I think Gilbert adn Petrucci are both using them now in some guitars

For a bit of variation ceck out the Air Classic Bridge.. the neck is good but the bridge is superb

Re: anyone else love the virtual pafs?

Just put a pair of Virtual PAF's in the Les Paul. They almost sound like the guitar has been mic'd, for lack of a better explanation, but the amp still affects the sound, if that makes any sense. Very natural, as someone stated. They will rock with a high gain amp, but will clean up very well when the guitar's vol is rolled back. Still experimenting around with them, but I really like them so far. I've got 4 push/pull pots. The volumes each split their respective pickup to single coil, the bridge tone throws the pups out of phase, the neck tone goes from seried to parallel. Lots of sounds available, most are usable! These pickups are good, I'll have them on this guitar for a while. (Sorry, that last sentence sounded straight out of Harm. Ctrl. gear review!)
