Anyone tried a Steve's Special in the Neck?

Just wondering. If no one has, I'm gonna give it a go. I love this pickup in the bridge and will give it a shot in the neck (further from the strings to compensate).

i never thought about it in the neck position , i'll bet it would loose definition and let the sound get smeared , it was ok in the bridge but i like the overdrive factor of higher output pickups .

if you do try it though , please post back , this sounds interesting .

IMO it's a good one for the neck. MAYBE a little too much bass for some, so hear it first. But it's clear, and I like clear neck pups (I like Duncan's Stag Mag too).

It's good. I've used the Megadrive and the S.S. in the neck. You want to orient the bassier coil toward the neck IMO, and use it with a coil cut switch that enables you to get either coil. Then it's truly three usable sounds in one pickup. If you won't coil cut it at all, even for pickup combinations, then you'll be missing out, so just go with an Air Classic or something, for a less hot, more open version of what the SS sounds like in the neck.
