Try raising your Paf Pro a bit. It might fix the darkness of the pickup. The Paf Pro is actually quite a bright neck pickup in comparison to a lot of other neck pickups on the market. The Super 2 would work great in a mahogany bodied guitar and is a very bright sounding pickup if that's what you're after. Another pickup to consider is the DiMarzio Humbucker from Hell.

i don't find the paf bright enough for a neck pickup....humbucker from hell is more a stratsound, witch i like but i don't want to experiment with something to wild, those pups cost money so i need the best pup for my taste....anyone in this forum has the super 2 in neck mahogany?

Try a PAF Joe, it's a bit brighter than you'd think.

The D Activator Neck is also pretty bright, often overlooked by those who aren't interested in the whole D Activator concept

Re: Anyone tried Super2 in mahogany Neck?

I have a Super 2 in the neck of my mahogany Dean Z 79', it is PERFECT, as long as you match it with a Super 1/3, D-activator, or an X2N in the bridge. It even retains it's articulation and brightness when playing with highest-gain distortion sources.

As CityofBlindingLights suggested, the PAF-Joe is a sweet neck-pickup...I had one in my mahogany Ibanez RGA121H at one point

As a side note; I originally had the Super 2 in the neck position of my alderwood Jackson Dinky, but it was waaaaay too much for it. It was ice-pick city.

Cheers

Re: Anyone tried Super2 in mahogany Neck?

The Super 2 is a great neck pickup for darker guitars. I also love it in 24 fret guitars, because then it makes for great "inside coils" coil cuts with a Super Distortion in the bridge. I like to keep one guitar around with that combination. It's not that it's the most toneful or responsive pickup, it just cuts really hard, and is fun to play solos on.

The closest Seymour Duncan is the Distortion neck, because of the Ceramic magnet, but sonically you may find the Duncan Jazz your best bet from Seymour Duncan.

Another trick to keep your PAF Pro would be to raise the pole pieces of one coil higher, and bury the other coil's poles down further. That will produce one strong coil, making it a tiny bit more "single coil-ish" and brightening the sound a little. Which coil gets raised and lowered is up to you, based on what you think sounds best.
