Anyone use a Breed or Air Norton in Gibson Type Guitar?

How do you like it? I heard a clip of a Air Norton in the neck of a Les Paul and was blown away by the tone. I like how powerful yet pafish the bridge Breed is and am wondering if it will make a good combo for a mahogany body explorer. Southern, bluesy, and classic metal stuff. Thanks

Re: Anyone use a Breed or Air Norton in Gibson Type Guitar?

The Air Norton has a great, well-rounded neck humbucker sound. It cleans up nicely when needed and is clear and even with individual notes. I have it in two guitars and I use it in recording when I want the previously listed qualities without the sound getting too "fat".

The Breed bridge is a great pickup and a has a mean and nasty sound overall. I don't mean that in a bad way, it's just a fierce, loud pickup. Great for leads and harmonics but I admit that I don't use it much for rhythm guitar, as it has a lot of dirt to it. It would still be a good choice for an Explorer, as the mahogony and the added body mass would probably tame it a bit.

Another option for your guitar that you might want to look into is the good ol' Dimarzio Super Distortion. Tried and true in Gibsons since the 70's, and it's a great combination with the Air Norton.

Air Norton neck + Air Zone bridge will give you sonic bliss. It's an AWESOME combo in any gibson, vintage with the ability to rock out ifyaknowwhatimean

I use an Air Norton in the neck for cool non-typical tones and in the Bridge for lower-gain 70's-style crunch rock. Works great for both... I really like the EQ curve on this pickup.
