Best Pick-ups for Thrash-Metal?

Does anybody know what pick-ups are best for thrash-metal? My other guitarist is fixing up his guitar(his first). Its a decent axe, but the pick-ups are crap. Thanks in advance.

EMGs? They seem to be made for heavy stuff.

Re: Best Pick-ups for Thrash-Metal?

Thats all I could think of, because thats what I use. All I've ever used is Dimarzio, EMG, and plenty of generic pups. Any other pick-ups though, like what SD's are good for thrash(I have zero experience with Seymour Duncans).
How do the Dimebuckers sound? His body is Agathis I think, and the neck is maple with a rosewood fretboard if it helps.

I think that Dimebuckers are really suited to thrash, because that's what dimebag uses after all. Contact SD and Dimarzio, I've heard that they are very informative. If you don't want to, try out the pickup finders on their websites. If it asks what body wood you use, put in Mahagony, because the sound character is closest to it. My 2 sen anyway.

Thanks for all the help, I've never played any Dimarzios other than Evo's and a Breed once I think.

Re: Best Pick-ups for Thrash-Metal?

A man from my own heart!
Slayer, Metallica, Children of Bodom, all play EMG's.
I play in a Thrash band and cover Slayer stuff. I have EMG's in my main stage guitar which is an ESP. My Ibanez's have Dimarzios for a different tone. A Dimarzio Megadrive in a guitar with a trem is super heavy.

Or, go with a Bill Lawrence 500XL in the bridge and a 500R on the neck. Those thing will rip your face off and are much more versitile than EMG's. (I have both so I can compair the two)

Try the Bareknuckle Warpig, suits Thrash very well.

Yeah Thrash, the guitar I use for my band is an LTD MH-1000 with EMG's (got it about 2 weeks ago). First guitar with EMG's ever and I'll prolly play them for the rest of my life, if only becuase it makes my pinch harmonics sound crazy! Hmmm never heard of Bareknuckle pick-ups, anybody else play them?
