Question

Bill Lawrence pickup wiring and how to tell what is what.

I just bought a used guitar with 2 Bill Lawrence pickups. The neck has "Bill Lawrence USA" printed on the top and bottom but nothing else is there.

The Bridge pickup is plain and has L-500-XL on the bottom with a made in USA sticker and Bill's autograph.

The guitar was wired by a hack. I can probably figure out which coil is which, but I am still curious as to what the neck model is.

Also, The wires of the Neck are Red, Green, Black, Red and shield, but the bridge has no shield and is Red, Black, Green, White, Blue.

Any help is appreciated. I checked out Bill's site and found nothing, not a single diagram.

Googling just produced more disagreeing wire color charts. Did these pickups vary? It doesn't look right to me.

Bill Lawrence USA are not Bill Lawrence's Pickups from Bill himself
I'm not sure they have the same colours/wiring

this is a paper I had in the box when I purchased PU from Bill & Becky
hope it will help

Re: Bill Lawrence pickup wiring and how to tell what is what.

Thanks. So I hooked up my meter and figured out much of it myself.
The "Bill Lawrence aka Bill and Beckyl" one matches your chart. + White to -Green then wire together with + Red to -black for normal humbucker. Blue to ground (shield?)

The Bill Lawrence USA goes (+ red) to - (white) south coil, then (+ green) to (- Black) north coil.

What is up with the 2 companies:

Bill Lawrence
and
Bill Lawrence USA?

They both claim to have designed Dimebag's pickup. What gives? Find answers below...

I camE across this:

EZ Wajcman, the Original founder of the 1965 Lawrence Electro-sound Company and the owner of Bill Lawrence guitar Pickups co. made the L500 Pickup in this ORIGINAL DIMEBAG DARREL DEAN FROM HELL GUITAR.

He owns the Trade mark, but Bill Lawrence can still use it unlike Wayne Charvel using Charvel
