Re: Blackout or JB?

I have three (yes, THREE) JBs... and the d*mn thing plays Metal like h*ll!!!
Even in BEADGB tuning, the JB is amazingly responsive, dynamic, articulate and clear!

Re: Blackout or JB?

Do you only play metal? If you want to be a bit more versatile then I recommend the JB, if you are only doing metal right now then the blackout.

Or some DiMarzios ...I'm a DiMarzio fanboy though so that's biased.

Re: Blackout or JB?

The seymour duncan livewire set is the way to go for you. They have the agression and clarity of active but they are very dyamic and actually sound and feel like more powerful versions of the jb and jazz.

I was very impressed with the set, i hate mustardstain but the pickups are actaully pertty good IMO .

Re: Blackout or JB?

I find the Evo 2 a bit similar to the JB, but with a little more high end and more output.
You may consider testing that pickup too.

Re: Blackout or JB?

If you want old school metal tones the Jb might be more suitable. If you want a more modern metal tone check out the Blackouts.

Rock on!

I have a JB in the bridge of my Jackson Soloist. It sounds absolutely brilliant. It's also very versitile.

Re: Blackout or JB?

The JB is much more versatile, but if you JUST want to play metal, then the blackouts are the better bet. I'd personally go for the JB since I do in fact play metal (and it'sa nice crunchy pickup) but I play more progressive tunes too.
