Re: Blaze 2.

I guess looking at dimarzio charts, it would be the Steve's Special, as its also scooped in the mids

Steve's Special. The SS is in fact a 6-string version of the Blaze (as the Blaze came out before the SS).

its said that John asked for the scooped mids cause his Mesa amps were already too middy... i wonder if he was playing the Universe before that and asked for the Blaze sound, too...

i guess we'll never know

Re: Blaze 2.

I'm confused. I just look at Jemsite's UV specs, they say the UVs have Blaze 2 pups. The DiMarzio site only shows Blaze pups. What's up?

Re: Blaze 2.

Well, as I understand he was playing mostly the Tone Zone until he got his UV, so I'm guessing he didn't ask for a scooped pickup until after trying the Blaze.

Near as I can tell, no one is quite sure if it's the Blaze or the Blaze II, officially, but that they are in fact the same pickup. It wouldn't be the first time Ibanez and Dimarzio were at odds over a pickup designation...
