Blaze Custom vs. Evo7 for bridge pup

Ok I've narrowed it down to these two. I have a UV7BK with stock Blazes, which I like quite a bit, but I wouldn't mind a little more mids and output for the bridge. I love the basic tonality of the Blaze bridge, I just want more of it. I like to play Dream Theater and also some harder styles with the UV.

On the other hand, I'm guessing the Evo7 would be very bright and a bit of a departure from the stock tone which could be good or bad. I generally like high output pups (Blaze Custom=410 mV and Evo7=420 mV) but I don't want something overly shrill. I love the 6-string Evo pup although apparently the Evo7 is even brighter.

Has anyone compared these two pups in similar guitars?

I've compared Evo7's to blaze. The Evo7 is brighter and to me was very dissappointing. I was expecting something more like the 6 string version. I was wrong. I tried body mounting and just hangin' em in the pickguard on an UV777BK. I played them a few times in a gig,,, and yes it does cut through the mix but over all not what I wanted. I too play dream theater style music. I can hear a difference in the old school Blaze pickups with the brass mount plate versus the new with a Phenolic bass. The old have a warmer tone, yet the new ones don't feed back as easy. I ended up selling the Evo and putting the Blaze back in. Sometimes you just have the right thing and it takes an adventure in trying new pick ups to appreciate what you all ready had.

I'm currently using Tonezone 7's in an RG1527 right now and I'm very happy. Still the blaze is my all time favorite. My 91' UV777GR has the oringinal blaze p/u's in her and they are staying.

I'd say go for the Blaze Customs.

Well from my research and asking around, I think the Blaze Custom is going to do it for me. As I said, I love the fundamental tone of the Blaze, I just want even more of it. I don't want to end up with an overly fizzy sound from the Evo7, since my Mesa MkIII can already deliver tons of anything (bass/mid/treble) if I want it. A slightly hot-rodded Blaze should be just right. I will post a comparison when I get it.
