Bought a breed, wired it, ran into problems... help please ?

Hello again Jemsite!

I am again in need of help. Il try to make it short as i always have the tendency to make a long speech.

So here's the deal. Last month i installed the Evolution duo (meaning neck and bridge) in my ibanez RGT42DX and the soldering went fine. I had a little spill on the selector witch which cancelled out the coil splitting, but i rectified that. And the pick-ups sounded great.

Now, after hearing so much about the Breed pick-ups, i decided to buy one for the bridge to install on my upgraded Jackson pro series kelly. I had just swapped out the bridge for an original floyd pro with a larger base plate, so i was stoked to get a new bridge pick-up as the seymour duncan JB4 isn't really that great. At least not for me. So i wired it exactly the same as the other one was when i opened up the cavity.

Red and white are soldered together, folded back along the entire wire and taped off. Green and Mesh are soldered together somewhere on the jack. (i'm guessing this is where the pick-ups sound is generated) and then the black onto the corresponding side of the three way switch. Today i restrung her, and when she was tuned, i blocked the bridge just so i could test the bridge, and i was dissapointed. It sounds like a rusted can being thrown around everywhere. Something was wrong, so i re-did the soldering and cleaned it up and still the same results.

Now i was thinking the problem might be that the neck pick-up in there is a medium out put pick-up, while the bridge is now a high out put pick up. My theory is that in one way or another, this would affect the tone to a point where it is dramatically noticeable. Am i correct ? Or else i was thinking maybe the tone pots might have something to do with it ? Would all this be corrected if i just bought the matching breed neck pick up to go with it or is there something else i have to do ?

Thank you for any help. I really can't wait to have this guitar up and running. was keen on selling her for so long that i forgot how much a beauty she was and that i could get some of the things i like about my ibanez onto her to have the best of both worlds!

quiksilverdew is right, Check the DiMarzio site for the wiring colour code (http://www.dimarzio.com/media/diagrams/C.pdf) you need to check that the green and braid go to ground (could be on the jack but usually on one of the volume or tone pot bases). Black and white soldered together and taped so they don't short out on anything. and red to the switch.
If you want the extra coil tap options have a look on the Ibanez site (http://www.ibanez.com/support/wiringdiagrams.aspx) at the js1200 circuit. ( it also has a capacitor switch as well!)

So that means i'd leave the Duncans the way they are, and the Dimarzio's would have an alternate wiring schema and they would still work ?

I think il start by switching around the red and black wires, if not then il wire it from scratch as you've all suggested!

Wow thank you, i was ripping my hair out lol
