Breed

I'm more and more interesting by this pickups (briigde an neck); but the only problem that i found in the dimarzio tone chart is about the 9 in the medium, maybe it will be too much in an alder body with a mapple neck ?

Breed and norton seem similair in the output and shape frequency, so i'm not sure with my choice...

Anyway, it will run with a blue velvet in the middle ?

Thanks

Re: Breed

I can't speak for the alder factor, but the Breed and Norton have different attitudes. True, the output is about the same (perfect range in my book), but that's where it ends. The Norton was a bit brighter to my ears and the attack is different as well. The harmonics of the Norton are nasty as Dimarzio claims where the Breed is ALOT smoother and warmer. The mid peak in the Norton is sharp, piercing, and a bit rhaspy. The mid peak in the Breed is wider and softer. If you want to stand out, I'd go route of the Norton.

Re: Breed

Sorry, im french, What do you mean by stand out ???

It Look like the norton will be more on the edge than the breed, i never play on dimarzio pickup i curently use duncan sh5.

So those both pickup are good for rythm and solo ?

Whar about the breed neck ? i don tlove the paf pro cause it sound to bright for me as a neck pickup, and i find the output of the air norton to low qo i might be my choice. Any suggestion about this remarq ?

Thanks

Re: Breed

Stand out = more edgy.

Personally, I would say that if you wan't more of a sophisticated lead sound to go with the Norton. The Breed is an excellent "all rounder" though. I mean, the thing sounds and plays damn good. The few months i had it in my main axe, it always made me smile. Since it's sitting in a drawer currently it's shame you're not local, I would let you try it out.

I've never used the neck Breed so I can't really speak. The fact that it sound's like a much fatter Paf Pro would lead me to believe that you might like it in the neck of your guitar though.

ROCK!

Re: Breed

Hi there,

The Breeds are just one of the best Versatile pickups out there. It has it all...

I have a Jem7dbk and its equiped with breeds and i cant describe how beautiful sounding this guitar is.

You can hear it at my website www.rabihsaad.com . To start listen to the songs 6AM START, Emotions and Man Down. Its done on the breeds.

Re: Breed

The breed is my favourite pickup.

It's smooth, warm and very crunchy.

Re: Breed

Hey rab really nice site, good material too...

What is the Wood of you re jem With the breeds ?

It sound really good, really midy in a way but not bad but maybe it because of equalization i didn't perceived a lot of bass...

Could be nice to ear some stuf with a norton to make a difference but it sound goods, a lot of medium for sure...

Thanks bro,

The wood on my Jem is Basswood the same for my Prestige 1570 equiped with 2 evos.

Well the Breeds are heavy on Mid and Bass, less treble and this is what i like in a pickup.

Re: Breed

Breeds are nice, warm, thick and fat pickups. The neck version sounds like an overwound PAF. The bridge is a gonzo overwound PAF. Big, smooth and fluid tone.

Great stuff, Rab! You have tremendous talent. Great style, tone and chops!

I am considering a Breed neck (in the bridge) for my RG, or perhaps a Virtual Hot PAF...but, those Breeds sound nice!

Thanks man for your support. It didnt come easy tho...20 years of playing.

There is another pickup that i like beside the breed, the Seymour Duncan Custom. Great balance between tone and power, just like the breed but with more output.

Also you might want to check the Seymour Duncan parallel axis trembucker distortion.

The dimarsio D-sonic is worthy to look at also.

These are the pickups i consider if i want to change the pups in a guitar. But the Breeds still #1.

Finally if You want to hear the Evolution in a basswood guitar, Just go to songs on my website and listen to Birding. Great solo pickup only, for rhythm its not as good.

Re: Breed

Finally i've made my choice :
nortone bridge, blue velvet neck in the middle and breed neck. Couls be interisting to try the breed neck in the bridge and the norton in the bridge too i will see...

I hope that it will run and that tje blue velvet will have enough output for the 2 and 4 positions...
