Broken Humbucker plate

I just got my USRG30TP today- hooray!

BUT- the mounting plate on the bottom of the neck humbucker on the low-E side has broken. So, there is nothing holding down that side, and the foam behind the pickup just pushes it up until the low E,A and D strings stop it.

What can I do?

And if the answer is 'New Pickup', a couple questions are:

1) Should I stick with the PAF Pro or go with an Air Norton?
2) do I need F-spacing for the neck pickup on the USRG30? (or the treb pickup for that matter?- might just replace both with violet/black humbuckers)
3) Wiring issues? Do I just connect the new pickups according to the wiring of the old pickups? Are the wires labeled? Etc.?

Thanks! I'd like to get this thing a bit more playable!!

-Ben

Ok. Well, I guess it's time for a new pickup.

DiMarzio said I could solder the tab back on, but I doubt that would hold- esp. considering the force with which I have to press down on it to make it level.

I guess this has never happened to anyone here!

I didn't respond at all because I wasn't sure what you were talking about.

Do you happen to have any photos?

If I'm understanding you, the brass bottom plate that the mounting screw
and spring attach to is broken off?

Ouch. I'm sure it's repairable, but it might take some work.
If you're handy, you might try sanding the brass back plate flat, and
soldering on (copper water pipe solder, not electronics solder) another
brass plate right over the existing one. You would have to then redrill and
retap the mounting holes, and mabey the holes for the six pole pieces
if they are the kind that extend through the brass base.

If you do replace it, I could use your old pickup for parts. Drop me an
E-mail at LonelyRaven@hotmail.com

Bingo- you got it Raven, that's exactly what happened.
I'm currently attempting to contact the seller to get him to reimburse me for this damage that he omitted to tell me when I asked if there was any damage at all on the guitar. If I can get the $ (and order a new PAF Pro purple/black!) I'll definately let you know and you can have the old pickup for free (well, minus any significant shipping).
