Buckethead: Tone Zone Neck, Air Norton Bridge?

There is a rumor about Buckethead's pickups i.e. :

"the pickup's (which is what everyone seems to want to know) neck p/u is a Dimarzio Tone Zone, bridge p/u is a Dimarzio Air Norton." - I think this was from a Gibson insider.

Would I be crazy to try this combo?

Could you get the pickups to balance? The tone zone has a much higher output than the air norton, so the neck pickup would sound a lot louder imho. That said, in photos of Bucket's les paul it looks like the neck pickup is as low as it can go, which might give this combo some credibility.

I ask because I have a tone zone and air norton already installed in my Ibanez and am wondering weather I should try swapping them around.

I never give much thought about what pickups Buckethead uses when I listen to his stuff...

Nine times out of ten I've seen anyone who does a mismatch in output like that in a guitar, they wind up swapping pickups again. His Les Paul is also a HUGE hunk of wood that your Ibanez probably isn't, consider that too.

If you wanna try that combo but wanna balance the output a bit more you could try a Norton in the bridge and an Air Zone in the neck.

might help things out a bit.

i believe that BH's pickups is the last thing you have to consider while trying to replicate his tone, with an Ibanez.

I think the Gibson insider is wrong, simple as that.
