Buzzing problem...

I have an Ibanez RG2820. When my hands are off the guitar it buzzes quite badly. As soon as my fingers make contact with any metal part of the guitar the buzzing stops. Could this be a sign of a grounding problem? Any good sites out there on how to diagnose this sort of problem? I don't have much in the way of tools but I do have a multimeter.

Hi I´m no expert but yes it does sound to me that you have a ground problem....IMO the first thing to check is the ground cable ...usually attached to metal plate that holds the springs...check to have a solid clean anchor to ground.....if not check for loose cables near the switch and pots....that for starters.

BTW buzz I understand it a "string buzzing" touching the frets.......what usually is called "hum" it does indicate electrical problem and usually shows when you are not touching (grounding) the guitar...which I think is you case.
