Can't get single coil in UV working... grrrrr

Ok, this is my first UV777BK project and it came in pieces. I am tring to get the single coil working and I get nothing. All I get on the 5 way are positions 1 and 5, 2-3-4 are not even humming. I am kinda green on wiring in general but I can muddle through usually.

I used this as my reference: http://ibanez.com/wiring/wire.asp?y=1999&w=UV777BK

Issue #1: the schematic lists the SC wires as red/green but they are black/white. How do these correspond? I have tried both ways and still nothing.

Issue #2: on the VLX91 side of the 5-way it shows the green wire making a zigzag connection. I am assuming that is like jumping from one point to the other but can someone explain for me?

Also, if I decide to maybe dispense with the SC altogether and just wire it H-H like a 7620, can someone point me to a schematic for that using the existing VLX91 or would I be better off doing that with a YM50?

Thanks for your patience.

Eric

I think you're better off wiring it with a standard, readily available 5-way switch, because a standard switch can do regular UV wiring. Then you can save the VLX 91 for something fancier, like a 2 Humbucker guitar or something where you want specific coils at different times. Otherwise, the reason you're getting nothing is probably because you don't have the hot lead jumped from one of the switch wafers to the other, but without a pic of your wiring I can't say.

Like Frank said, UV=Basic 5 way switch, Of course it's not beyond the bounds of possibility that the switch is knackered

Cool, thanks guys. I'll use a different switch then. For the life of me I can't get this one.

Is there a good schematic to use for that besides my previously hand-drawn scribbles?

I'll trade you your VLX 91 switch for a schematic. Of course, then you won't have the switch. But you'll have a schematic for next time!
