Re: clean up

Check your connections for dry joints, check your volume and tone for noisey controls and overall check for bad earths. Nothing some WD-40 anda soldering iron cant sort out.

Re: clean up

if the volume and tone pots crackle and sound scratchy when adjusting the levels i think it would be near impossible to clean, so i would switch those out, they should be about 5-10 dollars

Re: clean up

Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA - rubbing alcohol)/Methylated spirits are very useful for this task.

Re: clean up

Replacing is easy, parts should be fairly cheap (anyone care to elaborate?). Just a case of taking the pickguard off, removing the stuff from the 'guard and then de-soldering the connections. Putting the replacement stuff in is merely the reverse. Pretty simple if you're handy with a soldering iron. Although you may want wiring diagrams... someone around here should be able to point you to them.

Cleaning, you can take the pots and the p/up switch apart and clean the parts... but A WORD OF WARNING, if you don't know what you're doing then take it to someone who does.

How old is the guitar? You might be better off (less hassle) to just buy new components.

Hope this helps!

Re: clean up

Cool, glad to hear you've fixed it.

The pickguards on the 'Bay should fit...
