converting humbucker to split only one coil

Is there a way to run a dimarzio humbucker with one coil only but no switch?

Just curious if you could run just one wire for example ,but no switch..

I'm looking to run convert a humbucker into a single coil while maintaining
the size of the humbucker in the pickguard ..

Re: converting humbucker to split only one coil

Don't really know why you would want to do this...but here goes:

All you do is solder the black and white wires to ground. Everything else is the same. If you have a switch, all you are doing is toggling whether or not the black and white wires are sent to ground. So for your situation, you'd permanently want to solder the white and black wires to the back of a pot or something else grounded.

Re: converting humbucker to split only one coil

Excellent !

Much appreciated.

I have a space in the pickguard for a humbucker but no single coil .

I wanted to compare a true split coil versus a humbucker in parallel and see
if I can tell a difference .

I'm sure you can get a HSS (or SSS, or anything you want) replacement pickguard at a place like this (see below) or e-Bay. That would allow you to put in a real single coil.
