Curious about the Humbucker From Hell

This was my other choice in the neck position, matched with the Super Distortion. Any thoughts on how those two would sound together??

Is the Super 2 hotter than the HFH?

What guitar do you plan on placing it into?

I just got one put into my RG1570 (made of basswood, with a Rosewood fretboard).

My RG is very bright, due to the wood it is made of, so that is a consideration you should take into account. The HFM is a very bright, spanky sounding pickup even though it is a neck pickup. At least for me, to get that warm fat tone usually associated with neck pickups I have to roll down the tone knob a bit.

It is definitley a different sound than I am accustomed to in a neck pickup, and that is why I love it so much. For distorted leads it is amazing, and for bright cleans it is amazing. And if you add a coil tap... well, the versatility is unlimited. But, if you need that fat Jazz tone, you'll have to EQ at the amp, or just roll down the tone knob a bit.

It is not a very high output pickup, and actually has a single coil-like sound even though it is a humbucker.

I highly recommend it.

I am using the HFH in conjunction with the Tonezone in the bridge. Not sure about the Super Distortion, but the Tonezone is just ridiculous. Once got it back with the new pups I played my guitar for 4 hours straight, broke a string, restrung it, played some more until my wife finally yelled at me to come to bed. Tonezone + HFM is a GREAT combo.

I taked to steve over at dimarzio and the HFH is MUCH less powerful as a SD
the SD is over double the output whereas the SUPER II is a matched pup.
FWIW,steve told me that the super II sounds a lot like the HFH only much more powerful.

Thanks Voltage! I think I'll stick with the SD+S2 combo. If the S2 is too hot I'll set it low in the pocket. I think that combo is probably best.
