DC resistance vs voltage, and difference bewteen neck and bridge position pickups

What does DC resistance refer to? If I understand correctly, saying that a pickup has output of XYZ milivolts means it is XYZ loud. what about DC resistance?

and the second q.
how should neck and bridge pickup differ, output-wise, in order to "speak" at equal levels and keep the balance? I know that bridge pick up has to be "louder", but how much louder?

DC resistance is what some manufacturers use to indicate output. Its not as good as millivolts because changes to the design of a circtui can give higher output or lower output without a change in dc resistance, but in traditional pickup designs where nothing fancy is going on, its a good indicator of power level.

okay, thanks.
does anybody know which difference in output (for neck and bridge p-ups) makes a set that "matches" well?

I don't think theres a hard and fast rule. I've seen sets where the bridge pup is nearly twice as hot as the neck, and sets where its only a quarter as hot again. Try thinking of a set you know balances well, then comparing the outputs of them and using them as a guideline ratio.

For example, the Evo set balances really well, but the EVO2 set is a little less well balanced, on a 25.5 guitar. On a 24.75 guitar it seems to balance out well again.
