difference between 250k and 500k pots?

apart from the obvious, whats the difference between these different value pots?

i want to replace the pots in my tele i have at the moment with new ones (im replacing all of the electrics-hotrail and lace sensor pups), but it appears that i can buy pots for a tele that are either 250k or 500k.

which ones do i want and why?

thanks

tx

The higher the value of the pot, the brighter your guitar will sound (at least for the tone pot). Since a tele is already bright, you should be fine with a 250k pot.

250k pots are usually used for single-coil pickups.

500k pots are usually used for humbucker pickups.

1meg pots are usually used for very high-ouput humbucker pickups.
