Dimarzio Blue Velvet and Jem Single Coil

Anyone use a Blue Velvet in the middle position. I'm going to put on in my RG570 with some Breeds soon. The Dimarzio suggested the Bridge BV to balance with the Breeds.

I know they don't seel the Jem single coil but it's supposed to be very close to a current production single coil, anyone remember which one.

HS2 I thought it was either wired parallel, or coil cut. Someone here will correct that.

from what the specs say the BV is the way to go. I know some people who've played em and they compare them to a texas special but slightly less hot and a little more low end

That is a very good description.

I've used them in a few RGs. Whether they sound good or not is subjective, but I like them, even against Evos.

I spoke to Dimazio on this, they said the HS2 is closer to the newer Jems Single then the Blue Velvet was, they aslo sent me the wiring diagram to wire it. When I installed it my guitar. The HS2 sounds so sweet.

I'm going to try a blue velvet/breed combination one of these days when I get a chance.

Re: Dimarzio Blue Velvet and Jem Single Coil

I think there are two versions of the JEM single coil. One was to be balanced with the Evos, and the other with the Breeds (these were featured on the JEM7V and JEM7DBK respectively). According to Ibanez the one with the Breeds had a lower output compared to the one with the Evos. I guess that the single coil w/Evos is similar to a single-wired HS-2 whereas the single coil w/Breeds is similar to the bridge BV.

My 2 sen.

They will sell a jem single coil, but only with a set of Evos (and breeds). I have just got a set to put into a custom I am finishing.

I also have the HS2 (albeit in an alder body), I will post a comparison when they are in.

blue velvet works well with breeds i have that in a basswood rg 2550 with a tonezone bridge and its a big sweet sound, i am using the blue velvet wired as is and not the out of phase wireing

I like the sound compared to the stock pickups its a different beast

I have a Blue Velvet in my S-series 6-string. It's a great sounding, clear-as-a-bell pickup. You have my recommendation on it.
