I love breeds, not as powerful and dark as a TZ but still a very beautiful round sound. I just sold my DBK and the only thing I'll miss from her are the pick-ups...

Re: DiMarzio Breed in a Basswood body

the Breeds are good they aren't too hot that they'll distort the amp very much if at all...

but if you're looking for something a little less hot try the PAF Joe or the Air Norton.

Re: DiMarzio Breed in a Basswood body

Breeds are great pickups. I have one in the bridge of my AWD82T. I can get all kinds of great tones out of it. I was getting a nice greasy Scofield like tone today in my ensemble with the tone rolled back and my DS-1. It's so versatile. It'd work great as a metal pickup too. Although not in a semi-hollow guitar. I have an Ej custom in the neck position of that guitar. It's a great match. I'd highly recommend it.

I'm going to go against the grain here...I had a 550 with breeds in it and I didn't like them much. My winning basswood-guitar combo has always been Evo Bridge and PAF neck.

I know i'm the minority, but i figured i'd chime in.

Go with two Breed Necks...

Should sound like a Paf Pro combo on steroids...

+1

too deep a tone for me.....
I like Evo2 and Evo neck
I've had the Breed in everything from an RG to GRG to a RGT w/basswood sides and it just makes my RG`s sound like a Les Paul...if I wanted that sound I'd have bought a Les Paul
