Dimarzio D-Sonic wiring/installation help needed

Hi there,

I'm about to change the bridge pup (PAF Pro) on my Ibanez RGT3020FM to a D-Sonic with the bar facing towards the neck and I have a couple of questions:

-do I need to do any changes for the wiring or can I just solder D-Sonic's wires in the same way as the PAF Pro's wires were?
-I think I heard somewhere that if I install the D-Sonic with the bar facing towards the neck, I need to reverse the neck pickup direction. Is it true or is it just for some different wiring scheme than this?

Here's RGT's wiring diagram:

Thanks!

Yup, it's the installation direction only, the wiring still remains the same.

While you COULD wire it up like a PAF Pro, I believe the pickup was initially oriented with the bar facing the bridge so flipping the pickup around so that the bar faces the neck with result in both coils facing the bridge in position 2 (one up from the bridge humbucker). If you want to maintain the wiring so it's got the two inner coils in position two I believe you want to flip the red and green wires around on the D-Sonic.

Correct. It sounds great in position 2, in case you want to replace the wires and flip the pickup around.

Interesting. Do I have to do any changes for the neck PAF Pro's wiring or direction if I want the inner coils of both pups to be on at position 2? How about hum cancellation?

You just need to swap the wires around on the D-Sonic. You wouldn't need to screw with the Paf Pro wiring at all.
