Dimarzio Evolution in Ibanez RG1570

Hi i'm Jonny, I was wondering if anyone has had the same problem as me.
I recently installed a Dimarzio Evolution in the bridge position of my Rg1570. I noticed it sits a lot higher than my old pickup (Ibanez V8 ) even when its screwed right down as far as it will go. There is only about a 2mm (at maximum) gap between the strings and the actual pickup (when screwed down fully).

Is this normal with the Evolution? Will being 2mm close cause any string pull?
Thanks for your help

No worries about string pull, at the bridge location there is far less movement in the string, so strong magnets or close placement doesn't have anywhere near the same effect as with a neck or middle pickup. If you don't like the sound of it though, then you have to route the cavity a little deeper. Or you could shim the neck and raise the bridge which is a lousy idea. You say "as far as it will go", but does that include foam underneath? Is there anything blocking it from underneath? Basically find out if the ears are touching the base on each side. If not, then you could get away with just routing/dremeling a little cable relief, or drill tiny shallow holes where the four coil mount screws are under the pickup. If the ears are in direct contact though, then you have to route that part deeper.

Re: Dimarzio Evolution in Ibanez RG1570

Thanks for the info. Theres no foam or anything underneath the evolution as it touched the strings when I tried putting foam in. At the moment I'm quite happy with the sound, and wondered about the string pull because some notes appear to choke on the middle strings at the higher frets (17 to 24), the other pickups arent very close to the strings, so I'll try to see what other things could cause this.
