DiMarzio IBZ....

These IBZ pickups, what are they modeled after???

I've always been a SD fan, but I just got a RG20061 with the IBZ's in it, and they seem super bright, not that that is bad, but I have no frame of reference to know if its the pickups or the guitar... The guitar is a thru neck and ash body... so it's probably a brighter sounding guitar to begin with, but I'm thinking that these pickups are also bright....

I think I like them, but I have no info on exactly where they are on the output/tone scale...

Re: DiMarzio IBZ....

Neck is a Super 2 and the bridge is a cross between the Super Distortion/Steve Morse.

I have 2 identical guitars, one with the DiMarzio/IBZ neck and one with a Seymour Duncan '59 neck. I like the DiMarzio/IBZ more... not sure about the bridge hum yet... I have to experiment some more to be able to answer intelligently. I will say they are not crap the way some people seem to think.

Re: DiMarzio IBZ....

thanks fellas, that may help me in the direction I need to go...

I have no 'issues' with the pickups, they are quiet, and they articulate extremely well....

My only question is, or what I am wondering....The 20061 is a maple neck thru with alder sides.... so I know it's gunna be a bright guitar... and compared to my strat it is alot brighter...not that that is a bad thing, but needs to be tamed...

So I was wondering if they are a bright pickup to begin with, then with the maple thru neck, if that's not compounding the issue....?

I got no Problem with the Dimarzio/IBZ pickups in 1 of my RGs. I prefer it more compare to Seymour Duncan JBs.
