DiMarzio pickup names

Norton / Air Norton: What's a Norton? Is this named after someone in particular?

Fred: What's up with this? Does it refer to someone or is Satriani just being a goofball? (Actually, did he name it? The DiMarzio makes it sound like he wasn't involved in the design.)

Steve's Special: I'm sure this has been asked before, but which Steve?

Fred, Flinstone, the variation all had Flinstone's names.

EVO, the variations had Harley engine names.

Steve, Blutcher.

Cool. Thanks, Rich.

Anyone have any idea what the "Norton" refers to?

The Norton came from "The Honeymooners" as in Ed Norton. I guess the Air Ralph was too abrasive sounding.

Re: DiMarzio pickup names

but the real dilemma is why they called it Humbucker From Hell... there's no weaker humbucker in the history than the HFH, but it sounds like it's gonna blast your "S".

Oh. That makes sense, given the Flintstones reference. I guess someone at DiMarzio is a real Honeymooners fan. Thanks.

Re: DiMarzio pickup names

That one's the Humbucker From Hell because it's meant to sound very much like a single-coil, hence the lower output and sparkly sound...

I wonder what DiMarzio would name a hypothetical set of pickups for the Daisy Rock flower and heart shaped guitars? Maybe an Alice at the bridge and an Air Trixie at the neck.
