no...typicaly for proper use,
you always use a higher pot value for the volume and usually half for the tone
so
500k v 250k t .022
1 meg v 500 t .022
2 meg v 1 meg t .022
.022 would be a standard high brightness roll off value, if u wanted it to be less shimery i would suggest using
1 meg v 500t .044 tone
so that full tone on for instance u get standard sound that a 1 meg v 500k t pots would give you, but when u roll off like 1/20 of the pot it really makes a huge difference
you can even do 2 meg volume 1 meg tone and a .088 cap
then the pickup would be working at "full eficiencey" and you would get everything it has to offer....maybe roll off some tone....and then adjust ur amp, this will make the amp break up sooner also...but with all my settings ill use
x2n bridge
duncan distortion neck
1 meg volume 500k tone .022 cap
and fully shielded wires, incuding shielded signal input....
even with those high gain pups, ill use tone all the way up along with volume, and my preamp/amp does the rest in the adjustments, i find its way easier to remove/roll off eq, effects, distortion etc....you can easily romove the higher...or overtones...or less wanted frequenceys....rather than to get a signal and try to boost it....i can hear the difference
sometimes ill run in clean channels the x2n with a 1 meg v 500k t and .022 with the tone pot at 1/5 rolled down...this is supperb...im a big fan of the x2n and what its capable of
but yeah i love the evo in alder
and im a firn beleiver of the 1 meg volume and 500k tone with .022
i mean if u really dont like it, you can always re wire it....but it worth a try, the dynamics improve with all pickups vs a 500k v and 250k t its like day and night!!!!
one sounds soo much more briliant and in ur face, and really makes ur amp accentuate all of ur notes twice compared to the lower value
i say dooooooo it
