Dimarzio.... Pole pieces....Why?
So I order a FRED and Paf Pro for my JS, and the FRED arrives with chrome pole pices and the PAF has black.... Turns out Dimarzio says black is the stock colour for a PAF, Evos etc while chrome is stock for Breeds, Gravity Storms etc..... Pretty frustrating since it doesnt say this on their website and getting new pole pieces here is NZ is difficult.... Anyone else had this issue?

The pics on DiMarzio.com show the pole piece colors.
Some dealers can get different pole colors, but you need to ask them.

Yeah but you have to buy quite a few at once when you do (IIRC?)

No you don't.
BanjoMike doesn't require bulk purchases.
If you buy from DiMarzio--yes, but that would be like a dealer order.

Exactly!
If you ask--you can get then.
Depends on who you go through and what they have in stock.
If you contact DiMarzio directly, it sometimes depends on who you talk with.

You can get a set of poles from Dimarzio for 5 bucks. I think that included postage too.

You can buy the bolts from your local specialty fastener most likely or online too. They are 5-40 socket head cap screws. Buy 1/2" long ones, or if what you can get is lover just cut them. Easy as. I've bought them before for testing tonal differences between filister screws and the socket head cap screws.

Re: Dimarzio.... Pole pieces....Why?
Or start a trend: swap the inside pole pieces so each pickup has six black and six chrome.
On a serious note you want chrome for the JS, right? Get those from Dimarzio. Don't trust the hardware store because all they may have for "silver" is an unplated steel with different or inadequate magnetic qualities. The pole piece alloy affects the sound of the pickup. The black ones at the hardware store are often the same alloy Dimarzio uses but differences are possible.
