I haven't tried this, but I have the Dimarzio New 7 neck in one of my guitars, which is supposed to be somewhat similar. It may not be as bright, but it definitely is high output. I personally don't like high output neck humbuckers, since they tend to mud up unless they're very bright. The New 7 neck is not too muddy with the volume knob up all the way, but it's definitely too gainy for my tastes. Turning the volume knob down increases the clarity but tends to make it sound thin, at least to my ears. It's a matter of taste, but I much prefer something like an
Air Norton, which is lower output so it has clarity, and due to the EQ curve it still packs a nice punch. There are some people who love very high output neck humbuckers, though. There's one guy on sevenstring.org who swears by an X2N in the neck.
