Dimarzio YJM pickup wiring?

I just put one in the middle position of my RG550. Is it very low output. Is that how its supposed to be or did i wire it wrong? The other pickups are so much louder, particularly when the amp is clean.
thanks.

Re: Dimarzio YJM pickup wiring?

The YJM is a quiet pickup, this is how Yngwie likes it, he allows the amp to overdrive the signal and prefers to have a very clean signal from the guitar itself. It's no surprise that in your RG there's a big difference in volume. Tech specs of the YJM on the Dimarzio site say this pickup has an output of 93. Look at a high output pickup such as the Fast Track 2, for example, and you'll see it's 321. Output can vary greatly, and you should bear this in mind before replacing a pickup.

I would imagine the output of your RG's humbuckers to be somewhere around 275-300. I'm personally gonna fit a Chopper to my RG, I think. Output is 260.

Bad choice on my part. I will call Dimarzio and make an exchange for a higher output pickup. the virtual line sounds interesting. I'll get one of those. I hear yngwie and low uutput doesnt come to mind. Thanks.

Re: Dimarzio YJM pickup wiring?

i emailed dimarzio cause i was checking out the chopper and they said the yjm and chopper are very similiar but the chopper has more output (its a single sized humbucker), you can try that one. Ask deeswift how it sounds, I would like to hear a clip of it in the neck position. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBhvF...opper%20pickup This is a chopper in bridge and hs3 in neck, her makes other videos too, check out the tone zone : D.
