Dimarzios for my charvel ?

Hey guys

I currently play a Charvel Sandimas style 1 , in polar white , duncan jb / 59 in zebra creme and black.

Im going to stick with that colour scheme , but tryout a set of dimarzio humbuckers setup with coil tap , so id like your thoughts on these sets :

- 2 Paf Pros

- Tonezone / Airnorton

-Steves Special / Paf pro

what is the superdistortion like also ?

I tried a TZ in a basswood RG Prestige before ,but it muddied up the distortion a bit, even through a nice rack. Not too into it

This is an example of what ive been playing www.myspace.com/esotericdawn

I don't like the TZ/AN combo, and think it's pretty boring these days. The PAF Pro combo is always classic and awesome, and I like the SS/PAF Pro idea. I never liked the Super Distortion much myself- I prefer a lower output pickup overall, and using the amp for gain. Just my $.02 of course...

We threw a set of Breeds into my buddy's So-Cal, and they sound great. Like the perfect modern PAF.

The Super Distortion in an alder strat is like instant old-school Maiden, IMO.

Re: Dimarzios for my charvel ?

toshiro is right. The Breed pickups from DiMarzio are very very warm. I really like them and have them paired up right now in a couple of my guitars. Also are you truly dead set on the PAF Pros or have you thought about toying with the PAF 36s?

I mean the pickups your talking show quite a bit of diversity as some show a bit more top end/highs and not much of a low end/bass. The ToneZone AirNorton is a nice combo but I do agree it's becoming "cliche". If you want to push more of your mids and low end you can't go wrong with The Breeds they're quite clear and warm and they definitely push your low end.

Honestly, out of the three I'd go with the TZ and AN if you only want to look at pickups from the ones you've listed... As I don't think the PAF is going to suit your wants and needs after listening to your music...

What do you not like about the JB/59? That would help in making recommendations.

Re: Dimarzios for my charvel ?

Try a Norton in the bridge with either an Air Norton or Paf Pro in the neck. The Norton tends to correct the muddiness some folks complain about with The Tone Zone and also sings a bit better.
