Dimarzrio vs Duncan Tone Charts

Hi,

I have a question about the Dimarzio Tone Guide and Duncan Tone Chart they have on their sites. How well do these compare to one another? For example, let's say a Paf Pro vs. 59. Paf Pro says Bass 5, Mid 5 and Treble 6. 59 says Bass 6, Mid 3 and Treble 8. So would that mean that the 59 have more bass, less mids, and more treble than a Paf Pro? Or are both sites independant and the numbers are only reflected on their products as a sort of guide?

Just curious. Thanks.

I'd say that no matter how they go about listening them, they still show the basic info needed. The treble on that 48is gonna be off the charts compared to the mids. I'd go with the PAF dude. It's awesome. It has a good balance and doesn't need that much bass since it's in the neck position and it has that added bit of treble for clarity. Mids are required!

Edit: It occurs to me that you were just using those as an example but you can use both of them the same way.

I don't think they're comparable. I believe, a few years ago, Dimarzio even changed their tone chart. So there even is a difference between the old Dimarzio charts and the new Dimarzio charts.

I believe the tone charts are just an interpetation off the manufacturer. So they will not be comparable.

Thanks Colin! That's what I thought, but just wanted to make sure. If so, SD pickups didn't have much Bass or mids, and alot of Treble.

That might be the case, not sure

Well I would say that the pickup you showed as an example just doesn't have much mids. Neck pickups don't need that much bass but it's lovely to have. The added treble is just a bit of brightness that some people like from a neck pickup.

Thanks Mr. Wizardneck. The one I gave was just an example, that's all.
