Do Fender's Standard Singlecoils differ in pole magnets spacing ???
Hi. I bought a set of 91' Fender Standard Single Coil pickups (taken out from Stnd Am. Strat) - that's what seller told me. But I have doubts, cause I tried to fit them into the original fender plastic covers (from EJ strat- made to 50's specifications) and they do not fit. Pole pieces are the other spacing. So I think that maybe I was ripped off. Also the rear of this pickups make me feel uneasy- just look at this and tell me what you think. Maybe it's from
Mexican strat
?

The narrow spacing would be from an imports, such as MIM or MIJ.

Re: Do Fender's Standard Singlecoils differ in pole magnets spacing ???
yes. It is more narrow than my original fender pups, also look at the rear of these pups- all Fender ones I have seen have no magnets sticking from the "background" - don't know how to name it.
Please give me more opinions, I would like statement from somebody who is sure before I kick up the fuss with the seller...

I don't see any fender logos on the back of the pickups, usually the american ones will have some sort of nomenclature and fender's initials (FMIC) along with USA.

Well you don't really need anymore info than the spacing. Either it is import or not, and those are.

Re: Do Fender's Standard Singlecoils differ in pole magnets spacing ???
speaking of single coil spacing is there narrow or wide spacing options when buying new single coils? cause i bought replacement covers and they fit strat singles but not ibanez singles. i might want to change the single
coil pickup
in my rg too so would they come in the wider spacing?

I think it's a rip off too, because even in my MIM
Fender Strat
it does not look like the one's in the pics even though MIM pickups don't have any Fender initials. Maybe it's from Squire? Than you got no case because Squire is a Fender too.
