Dopsonic?

Anyone tried the dropsonic? To me it looks like a one trick pony (at least that's what the name suggests), but i need a pickup for a new RG. I tend to go with lawrence 500's but, just for variety i'd like to try something different. Preferably a bit like the 500, but with a bit more mids. Any suggestions?

Thanks

The DiMarzio chap at JEMFest said it just didn't do clean in the slightest, so you may be right on the one-trick pony front. I'd like to try one, but I'm not even remotely tempted to fork out for one on spec...

I have a dropsonic in a kramer I use for alternative tunings. It is most definatly voiced for heavy distorted sounds but has a less harsh tone that some things-for example EMGs. I have it wired up to coil tap to the "pole piece" side (as opposed to the rail) and it sounds ok for clean sounds if you back off the volume a little. This pickup does basically exactly what it says on the tin...DROP tunings perfectly well, allthough it does mud up if you go seriously low...
