EBMM JP pickup swap suggestions

2005 (i think) EBMM JP

Steve Special & Air Norton

these pickups sound amazing, and really aid to achieving a petrucci'ish tone!
but i am getting further and further away from the heavies, I only use a fender amp now with some pedals.

The other night, I realized that my axis SS sounds 10x better with my current setup.. with the help of screamondemon, I acquired a FRED and PAF Pro and popped them in my RG.. I am really digging the sound of them, so I am leaning towards putting something similar Paf's in my guitar.. Let me hear your suggestions.

paf joe might be a little cold,

mo joe/paf pro may be a bit closer to what I want

I hear good things about the Breed neck, but haven't tried one myself.

i should mention that upon figuring out what I want, I am going to put my 2 pickups up for trade on the 2 I select to put in.. cosmetics matter in this guitar, so I don't want any beat up 'veterns'

Re: EBMM JP pickup swap suggestions

i have an axis sport too and that bridge is a great pickup. shame that dimarzio doesn't offer it in their line. i spoke with a dimarzio rep about that pickup when i first got my axis and he said it was like a tone zone light. i'd say if you are moving away from high output, then start with the fred and then if that's too much of a drop, then try the mo joe. they both have the same eq curve with a more upper level mids and balanced hi's and lows. the breed is nice too, but darker sounding than the fred & mo joe.
