EMG-81 into a RG570?

I've been thinking of changing my V8 bridge pickup with an EMG-81. How simple is the installation? Does it just slide nicely into position or do I have to modify the "pickup hole"?

No modifications should be necessary. However, sometimes the metal ears on the sides of the pickup (where the screws go) might need to be rounded or shaved down.

Plus you need to ensure you can fit the battery in the control cavity. Usually that's not a problem.

What rg do you have?/ Youll most likely have to change the output jack as well as the neck pickup. Its kind of tricky to wire passive and actives together. Its easier to go out and buy the whole pickup kit. Saves on money and time and those are easy enough to install yourself since everything but the input jack just clips together

Can you combine the EMG with a passive pick up? I have been told that you cannot but it was from someone I would not trust. I know that the EMG's use a 25K pot but could you combine this with the usual 250/500k pots (for the passive pick ups)?

Its doable (one of the guys from judas preist does it and jason krauss from kid rock does it as well, Maybe even rustey cooley not sure though). Most of those circuits are les paul style wiring (if you can call it that), with a three way toggle, two volume pots and two tone controls. That would be the easiest to do in my opinion but who knows. This is something I wouldnt mind doing. You may be able to have emg wire you a new circuit and leave it open for the passive pickup. WHo knows. They do sell premade harnesses though. Id suggest getting an 81 and 85 and saying to hell with it though.
