EMG Active wiring help

Alright here is my problem. I am working on a project guitar and I am wanting to wire it with the standard 81/85 Zakk Wylde combo. Problem is that all of the diagrams I have seen do not seem to match what I have myself. I want to wire them to a 3 way switch.

Each pickup has 3 wires coming from it. Red(i assume it goes to the 9v as most diagrams show), White, and then a shielding wire.

I have the new output jack which has 3 wires itself. One green(I assume is ground), A black going to the 9v, and another black.

I also have the new Volume/Tone pots that are needed also.

What I am asking is if one of you fine fellows would help me in drawing up a quick diagram in paint or something . I don't want to have to resort to taking it to the shop and getting charged way to much for something I know I can do myself, I just need a correct wiring diagram. If I can't I may end up selling the 85 and just running a single 81 in the bridge with no tone/switch. Thanks for all the help!

Re: EMG Active wiring help

Have you checked through all of the diagrams on the EMG website? I've got a guitar with the same setup and I just used the diagrams that EMG provided.

This one in particular may help: http://www.emginc.com/content/wiring...20%20%20ZW.pdf

Is your jack a stereo jack? Because it needs to be replaced with one if it's not.

Re: EMG Active wiring help

Yes it has the stereo jack that was provided in the kit.

I am looking at those diagrams, specifically the 1 vol, 1 tone, 3 way switch configuration. I am confused about a few things though. First off on the output jack, it has 2 blacks and a white. Mine happens to have 2 blacks and a green. Am I safe to assume that white = my green in this situation? Secondly can I assume the Black coming from the jack goes to the CASING of the tone and not the 3rd prong? The picture is misleading. Lastly it shows the wire coming from the bridge pickup and the neck pickup. It shows this as it is a single wire. The wires I have from my pickups are red which go to the 9v, and then a white, which inside the insulation has the white wire, and a shielded. Here is a pic to help explain(sorry for the less than impressive phone pics):

As you can see in this pic, The large white wire in itself has a braided shield(which I have unraveled), and a white wire. Can I assume I just use the inner white wire and cut the braided shield back?

Thanks for any help in advance!

I think all your assumptions are right except the last one. The braided shielding needs to be soldered to ground. Also notice that in the diagram all the wires soldered to a prong show the wire on the tip of the prong. I can see how that drawing can be confusing.

Ok. I see that the braided should be soldered to the casing of the pot, grounding it. What am I to do with the "hot" white wire? That is the main part of my confusion now. Thanks again!

Re: EMG Active wiring help

Checked with a friend today and he helped clear it up. The braided from the pickups solders to the volume casing, and the Hot white wire inside the braided continues on to the switch.
