I am pretty sure the EMG 89 is the only pup they make that is tappable.

Kabuki is correct... only the 89 can be 'tapped', and i don't think it's a true coil tap... they refer to it as "dual mode".

It is a true tap, but will still be hum cancelling due to the nature of EMGs technology. You will experience a significant loss of volume in the split mode though. I have had 89's in a number of Steinbergers. Never found the split modes that useful.

The humbucking portion is spread across the entire pickup and sounds like the EMG-85. It's perfectly OK to rotate the pickup 180 degrees to locate the single coil portion of the pickup further away from the bridge for a "beefier" tone. You may also order the EMG-89R, which has the single-coil portion located opposite the logo.

Agreed, I don't find the split EMG 89 of any use. That is the only splittable pup on the EMG site...
