EMGs into an RG2570E

Hello all,

I am going to change the pickups in my RG2570. I was wondering, will i need to make any changes to the guitar for the EMGs to fit correctly?

Also, is it difficult to replace a 5 way pickup switch with a 3 way switch?

Cheers

EMG's will fit on your RG2570 fine, no changes needed. It's not hard to replace the 5 way switch with a 3-way as long as you have wiring diagrams for your new 3-way.

Re: EMGs into an RG2570E

Replacing the switch should be very easy as is getting wiring diagrams. Any new EMG pickup should come with some diagrams and you can always email the guys over at EMG for a specific diagram if you need more help. The thing that's going to be harder to do is replacing the tone and volume pots along with the input jack because installing EMGs pretty much means that you're changing out ALL the electronics in the guitar.

i was wondering, the otherday i went into the local guitar shop and tried an esp ltd loaded with emgs, i was really disapointed because the emgs were really mid range happy, was the sumthin wrong with them or is that how they were supost to be.

i despise emgs. they totally suck any tone that is inherent to your guitar and make it sound fake and plastic. thats my opinion anyway. if youre gonna replace any guitar pickups use some nice passives instead. dimarzios, seymour duncans, nare knuckle pickups. all of these are great. emgs suck.

I dont think i need to change the input jack. Lots of people said Ibanez's have the same type of jack EMGs need (a stereo input jack)

You don't need to change the output jack on your RG2570E. What you need to do is remove the battery clip on the output jack EMG supplied you and solder it onto the spare lug on your existing output jack(which SHOULD be a stereo barrel jack with 2 out of the 3 lugs being used.).

Re: EMGs into an RG2570E

To me, EMGs seem to sound best through a good tube amp. If you use them through something solid state then they tend to sound kind of processed. I noticed this recently when I got Dimarzios installed on my S470DX. The S actually sounded BETTER than my RG with EMGs (atleast in the bridge position) but my RG still sounded way better in the neck position. But then I compared them on a tube amp and my RG just totally kicked ass but the S wasn't too terribly far behind.

The EMG 81 has high treble and mids. That's just the way the pickup was designed. EMG does make MANY MANY MANY other pickups aside from the EMG 81, though. That's just what most EMG metalheads tend to want in the bridge.

Man if you're going to come up with unfounded crap like that, don't bother posting. Simple as that.

Guitardevil2005: I would bet that you tried an ESP with EMG HZs which really are the donkeys balls, because they are the inferior passive versions of EMGs active series.
