Everything you always wanted to know about Airbuckers...
Between Google's Patent Search and Dimarzio publishing their patent numbers for the pickups, it's really easy to learn exactly how to make your own Airbucker.
Dimarzio Airbucker Patent
I know folks have posted about this before but looking at the schematics makes it really easy to understand how the Airbucker principle works so you can convert your own pickups if you so choose to.
Me, I think I'm going to try this on one of Tone Zones. I opened up a
PAF Pro
I had lying around so now I know exactly how it works.

Interesting. The images are in PNG (Portable Network Graphics) format. I'm not having any problem seeing and I don't know what you need to do to see them. Sorry.

If I remember correctly, IE doesn't deal well with PNGs... try Firefox.

Ummm, I use FF, and can't see it. However it works fine in IE, go figure.
Anyone know what plug in I need for FF?

I did this to a JB pup many years ago(1982)
I wanted to make the new JB sound aged and did not have the knowledge to degauss the magnet like a
seymour duncan
dunaged design(ala antiquities)
where you decrease the magnets strength by degausssing it
i just took the pup apart and took out the metal screw bar and replaced the slug poles with screw poles and made two gaps between the magnet and poles each was .042" the same as the dimarzio air buckers
guess i should have patented it it huh?

If you had published this in '82, proof of that would actually invalidate the DiMarzio patent.

I have no record expect the actual experience of taking the JB apart and doing what i said to it in 82.
the JB came out of a charvel i had back then
I was just out to make my JB less hot in output and tame the highs which a weaker magnet does to a pup
I was and still am a huge VH fan and wanted to make my JB sound more like him i guess
