EVO ON A LESPAUL

I have a Yamaha Lespaul Copy (bolt on). Im planning on putting on an EVO on the bridge and maybe a FRED on the neck.

Has anyone tried this configuration on a Lespaul?

Thanks in advance.

I havent personally but it should sound OK. I am not a big lover of passive humbucker pickups in a Les Paul. I prefer the real deal PAF pickups that they come with, or EMG's. But I know a few people that use DiMarzios in theres.

A mate of mine has a set of evo's in his Epiphone Les Paul, and it sounds ace. Look pretty cool too.

But if it were up to me, I wouldnt have an EVO in the bridge. The bridge version tends to be very harsh, and a bit too much for most people. Loads of people agree on here too.

Do yourself a favour and go for a ToneZone in the bridge instead. Have a scour around on here for a while. There are 100's of combinations possible and they all sound different for different purposes.

Good Luck!

Personally the last thing I would put in a Les Paul would be a Tone Zone because of the heavy bass/mids.

The Evo should sound great in the bridge though. Honestly, the Gibson 500T bridge and 496R pickups sound fantastic in a LP. They are open coil and quite a bit hotter and edgier than the typical covered PAF style pickup.

It has an Ebony fingerboard with Mahogany body. It's a very old rare guitar probably made in the late seventies. It's one of the "lawsuit" models and every detail on the Les was copied except for the knobs which I already replaced with original LP replacements and the the neckv is bolt-on.

I would surely let you know how it would turn out...maybe post some soundclips as well....

warm regards,[/quote]

Yeah, Evo's KILL in mahogany. They may be too "bright" for some people in basswood, but all that clarity is a godsend in mahogany- the Tone Zone 7 my 2027 originally had was way too dark and inarticulate udner gain (gorgeous clean, but distorted just wasn't cutting it), but when I swapped it for an Evo... Man. I guess Rich can attest to how good Red Lace sounds with evo's- it's a magical combination.
